MADISON, Wis. --
Wisconsin (1-4) wraps up a tough stretch of five games in 10 days when it heads to Boulder, Colorado, this weekend for the Rocky Mountain Hoops Classic. The Badgers face Boise State (1-2) on Saturday at 2:30 p.m., streamed live on Pac-12.com. UW takes on host Colorado (5-0) on Sunday at 1 p.m. live on the Pac-12 Networks.
Here are five things to know before you tune in.
Â
1. LAST TIME OUT: In the Badgers last outing, they fell to the Milwaukee Panthers on the road 79-67. The matchups was the Badgers' third game in six days. In a strong offensive outing for Wisconsin, the Badgers netted 28 points in the paint and had 11 second-chance points as the fast-paced play from Milwaukee was too much to outwit.
Julie Pospisilova led the Wisconsin attack with 19 points and five assists while swiping three steals on defense.
Â
2. IMPROVED SHOOTING: Another area that the Badgers saw success versus the Panthers was their overall shooting consistency. Wisconsin shot a season best 50% (28-56) from the field, including junior guard
Sydney Hilliard having a perfect night shooting 6-6 for 13 points. Other Badgers that shot the ball well were sophomore
Brooke Schramek, who went 3-6 from the field, and junior
Sara Stapleton, who hit 3-4 from the free-throw line.
3. FOUL BALL: Wisconsin has struggled with fouls over the last three games, averaging 22.7 fouls per game. The Badgers had a season-high 25 fouls vs. Chicago State on Nov. 22, allowing the Cougars to shoot 22-32 from the free-throw line. On the season, opponents are shooting 68-100 (68%) from the free-throw line while the Badgers are hitting 53-76 (69.7%). Junior Julie Pospíšilová has a team-high 3.7 fouls per game while
Sara Stapleton has 3.2 fouls per game
Â
4. SCOUTING THE BOISE STATE: The 1-2 Broncos come into the Rocky Mountain Classic prepared to face Louisiana Tech and Wisconsin. Their lone win on the season comes against Oregon Tech last Monday and since then the Broncos fell to BYU before facing the Lady Techsters. Boise State is led by junior guard Elodie Lalotte, who averages 17.1 points and 4.3 rebounds per game. The Broncos scored 40 points or less in their two losses this season, so defensive isolation will be important for the Badgers as they look to snap a four-game losing streak.
Â
5. SCOUTING THE BUFFS: As hosts of the Rocky Mountain Hoops Classic, the Buffs sit undefeated so far this season at 5-0. As a team, they are outscoring their opponents by nearly 20-point margin and shooting .318 from the three-point line this season. A big contributor to that is leading scorer Mya Hollingshed, who averages 14.6 points and 6.8 rebounds per game while hitting 38.9% (7-18) from deep. An overall great shooting team, the Badgers will have to play active and aggressive defense without fouling to slow down Colorado.
