Wisconsin opens Big Ten season, earns 5-2 win over Minnesota
MADISON, Wis. — The Wisconsin women's tennis team opened up its Big Ten season on Sunday, clinching a win over Minnesota in its first dual match of the season at Nielsen Tennis Stadium.

Despite losing the doubles point, the Badgers responded by winning five of their six singles matches to clinch the dual-match victory.

Sophomore Xinyu Cai was the first to clinch a singles point for the Badgers, locking in straight-sets victory, 6-1, 6-1.

Following Cai was Anna Makarova, who defeated Minnesota's Lucia De Santa Ana, 6-4, 6-3, which put Wisconsin in the lead.

Charmaine Seah clinched the third point, followed by freshman Jordana Ossa sealing the win for Wisconsin by defeating Minnesota's Juliet Zhang 2-6, 7-6, 6-2.

Up Next: Wisconsin is scheduled to host Iowa next Friday, Feb.19 at Nielsen Tennis Stadium. The match is set to begin at 3 p.m. (CT).
