Hoosiers grab a 3-0 win from Badgers
WESTFIELD, Ind. -- The Wisconsin men's soccer team (0-1-0) came out strong against Big Ten preseason favorite Indiana (1-0-0) during Friday's season opener for both teams, but ultimately suffered its first loss in the 2021 spring campaign at Grand Park, 3-0.
Despite freshman Jack Finnegan putting his first shot on net for the Badgers early in the first, the Hoosiers set the scoreboard with two goals at the 38 and 42 minute marks.
IU tallied another goal at the start of the second half, maintaining their lead for the remainder of the game in the face of UW's attempted comeback.
Freshman Murat Calkap and sophomore Michael Wampler each got shots on Hoosier goalkeeper Roman Celentano while grad student goalkeeper Sven Kleinhans made his first Badger save and debut, before sophomore Carter Abbott took over.
