Dylan Holloway records another multi-goal game
MADISON. Wis. — No. 5 Wisconsin men's hockey took down the Ohio State Buckeyes in a heated and dramatic 2-1 overtime game on Friday at LaBahn Arena.
Once again, Wisconsin's elite power play came in clutch.
Dylan Holloway drew a slashing penalty early in the first period, then made Ohio State pay on the power-play to give the Badgers a 1-0 lead. He connected with Cole Caufield and Linus Weissbach to pick the far corner for his ninth goal of the season.
The Badgers got stuck with a string of penalties in the second period after Tyler Inamoto received a five-minute major for interference and Tarek Baker got a minor penalty for cross-checking. Just as Inamoto's penalty expired, Ohio State's Gustav Westerlund tied the game 1-1, assisted by Grant Gabriele and Quinn Preston at 17:27 of the second period.
Wisconsin began the third period on the man advantage, but despite a couple chances were unable to get anything past OSU's Tommy Nappier.
Badger goaltender Robbie Beydoun also stood tall throughout the third period, stopping eight shots to keep OSU scoreless.
With the score tied 1-1 at the end of regulation, the Badgers and Buckeyes headed to overtime, though with UW on a power play after Jack Gorniak drew one going hard to the net with the puck.
The extra period was short lived after Holloway scored on the powerplay just 42 seconds in to win the game. Cole Caufield and Weissbach each picked up an assist on Holloway's second goal of the game and 10th of the season.
