LOVES PARK, Ill. -- They held steady with a nil-nil tie through the first, but the Badgers (0-3-0) ultimately came up one goal short in Saturday's home matchup against the Scarlet Knights (2-1-0) for a 1-0 final.
The Wisconsin men's soccer team pushed hard in the first half but couldn't quite capitalize on its shot opportunities.
Rutgers came back quick with a goal in the 50th minute by Jackson Temple and held the 1-0 lead for the remainder of the game.
The Badgers had a chance to draw even with a 55th-minute penalty kick, but Murat Calkap's attempt was stopped.
