Huber helps Badgers score second conference win

Wisconsin claims fifth straight meeting with Nebraska

LINCOLN, Neb. -- The Wisconsin men's tennis team (2-6, 2-5 Big Ten) earned its second Big Ten win of the season and scored its fifth consecutive triumph over Nebraska with a 5-2 victory Sunday at Dillon Tennis Center.

The Badgers jumped out to an early lead after winning the doubles point. Tim Dzhurinskiy and Gabriel Huber earned a 6-3 victory at No. 1 doubles over the Huskers' Victor Moreno Lozano and Brandon Perez, while Lenard Soha and Jesper Freimuth rounded out the effort by claiming a tiebreaker at No. 3 doubles to win 7-6 over Albert Sprlak-Puk and Patrick Cacciatore to clinch the doubles point.

Huber capped a strong weekend with a 6-4, 7-5 win over Lozano at No. 1 singles, a victory that came on the heels of his victory over No. 39-ranked Kareem Allaf of Iowa on Friday.

Soha also scored a win at No. 2 singles, defeating Perez 7-6 (8-6), 6-3. Jared Pratt clinched the match-winning point for Wisconsin after rallying for a 4-6, 6-1, 6-4 win over Sprlak-Puk at No. 3 singles, while freshman Mihailo Popovic rounded the effort by defeating Nebraska's Cacciatore 6-3, 3-6, 6-1 at No. 6.

Straight From the Courts
Head coach Danny Westerman: "
Very happy for the guys. We've had several close matches not go our way but the guys have stayed very positive and today is the result of that work. We won plenty of close sets and matches today that could've gone either way, so I am very proud of the guys for sticking with it. Wins on the road are tough and this one feels great."

Up Next
The Badgers are back at Nielsen Tennis Stadium next weekend to host a pair of matches against Penn State on Friday and No. 8 Ohio State on Sunday.
