Wisconsin boasts four victories on windy day in Madison
MADISON, Wis. -- A windy Saturday morning of rowing on Lake Mendota finished as a great outing for the Wisconsin women's rowing team as they hosted the Eastern Michigan Eagles and claimed victory in each race.
The Badgers were able to claim victory in all four heats, as different boats matched up against one another for each team. In all four races, the Badgers got out to a quick start from the beginning and were able to hold their lead throughout the competition.
One of the more exciting races of the day was the Wisconsin first varsity four and second varsity four battling each other down the course. Eventually, the first varsity four proved their experience by outsprinting the second boat in the final stretch.
A battle between the Badgers' second varsity eight and Eastern Michigan's first varsity eight capped off the day of rowing as a neck-in-neck race came down to the final sprint when Eastern Michigan's first varsity eight finished just ahead of Wisconsin's second varsity eight. UW's varsity eight won the three-boat event by open water.

Head Coach Bebe Bryans:
"Thanks to EMU and coach Savage for bringing his team to Madison. We all had a big challenge with the wind today but all boats did a great job navigating it and we had four great races. We were using these races as our last race prep before the Big Ten championships. It was great to be able to identify what our last steps will be in these next two weeks."
Up next: The Badgers will begin their postseason rowing as they head to the Big Ten Championships on May 16 in Indianapolis.
