Sophomore claims first Badger title in 100-meter hurdles

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. -- Sophomore Destiny Huven claimed the Big Ten Conference Outdoor Championship in the 100-meter hurdles to lead the Wisconsin women's track and field team on the final day of the championship on Sunday.

The Badgers scored 55 points to finish eighth in the team race.

Huven claims Big Ten title

Huven became the first Wisconsin athlete to win a Big Ten title in the 100-meter hurdles, crossing the line in 13.02 seconds. Her time broke her own school record of 13.03, which she set in Saturday's preliminaries, and qualifies her for the NCAA West Preliminary Round.

Huven also teamed with Armoni Brown, Taylor Gilling and Kiley Robbins to finish fourth in the 4x100-meter relay in 45.04, the No. 2 time in UW history. Robbins also finished ninth in the 100 meters in 11.94.

Mooney, Stubler finish second

Juniors Madison Mooney and Bianca Stubler both earned silver medals in their respective races. Mooney equaled her 2021 Big Ten Indoor finish by taking second in the 800 meters, crossing the line in 2:09.46.

Stubler improved her personal best time in the 400-meter hurdles by over a second, finishing second in 57.48. Her time moves her up to third on the UW all-time performance list and qualifies her for the NCAA West Preliminary Round.

Mooney and Stubler were also members of the eighth-place 4x400-meter relay that ran the No. 3 time in UW history of 3:39.63. The duo teamed with Gilling and Ali Dorn for the top mark.
