
Tokyo Bound: Ellenwood and Ziemek earn Olympic berths

Former Badgers to represent Canada and U.S.
MADISON, Wis. -- Georgia Ellenwood and Zach Ziemek, former members of the Wisconsin track and field teams will represent their respective countries at the 2021 Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan.
Ellenwood, a native of Langley, Canada, will represent Canada in the women's heptathlon while Ziemek, from Itasca, Illinois, will represent the United States in the men's decathlon. Both events will be held on Aug. 4-5 at the Olympic Stadium.
Ellenwood also recorded a personal best in the 100-meter hurdles, finishing fourth in 13.40. The 2018 NCAA Outdoor champion in the heptathlon finished second in the long jump at 20-4 1/4, tied for third in the high jump at 5-9 1/4, fourth in the 200 meters in 24.29 and 12th in the shot put at 40-4.
Ziemek also recorded five season bests in decathlon events, placing third in the discus (150-4), fourth in the 100 meters (10.70), fifth in the shot put (48-6 1/4), 12th in the 400 meters (50.89) and 14th in the 110-meter high hurdles (15.04). He also placed ninth in the 1500 meters (4:40.69) and 10th in the javelin (182-10).

Ellenwood recorded a personal best of 6,314 points to win the heptathlon at the Stadtwerke Ratingen Mehrkampf-Meeting in Ratingen, Germany, on Friday and Saturday. Ziemek finished third in the decathlon at the U.S. Olympic Trials, scoring a personal best 8,471 points. A 2016 Wisconsin graduate, Ziemek record three personal bests at the Trials. He won the long jump with a wind-aided personal best of 25 feet, 4 3/4 inches while also winning the pole vault with a personal best clearance of 18-2 1/2. The 2016 NCAA Indoor champion in the heptathlon and 2016 NCAA runner-up in the decathlon, Ziemek also finished second in the high jump with a personal best of 7-0 1/4.🆃🅾🅺🆈🅾 🅱🅾🆄🅽🅳!!
