MADISON, Wis. – Wisconsin freshman defenseman Corson Ceulemans became the seventh Badger to get picked in the first round of the NHL draft in the last six years, going No. 25 overall to the Columbus Blue Jackets on Friday night.

A Beaumont, Alberta, native, Ceulemans played last season for the Alberta Junior Hockey League's (AJHL) Brooks Bandits, skating in eight games and tallying four goals and 11 points in a pandemic-shortened season. He added a goal and eight points in six games to help Team Canada to the 2021 International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) Under-18 World Championship.
Over the 2019-20 season, he netted five goals and 30 assists for 35 points in 44 games and finished second among under-17 players in the league for points, helping his team go 46-10-2 on the year.
Ceulemans represented Canada in the 2019 World Junior A Challenge and World Under-17 Hockey Challenge where he recorded four assists over four games.

NHL's Central Scouting had him ranked No. 14 among North American skaters before the draft.
