UW bounces back on Saturday at the 2020 Summer Olympics
SAITAMA, Japan -- Former Wisconsin women's soccer standout Rose Lavelle scored the United States' first goal en route to a 6-1 win over New Zealand in group play on Saturday at the 2020 Summer Olympics.
Lavelle scored the USWNT's first goal of the tournament in the ninth minute off a great feed from Tobin Heath to get the U.S. on the board.
The U.S. scored late again in the first half to take a 2-0 lead into the break before scoring four more times in the last 45 minutes.
Up next is a critical game on Tuesday against Australia at 3:30 a.m. CT on USA Network as the two countries are tied for second place in their group.
