Wisconsin looks to bounce back Sunday
MADISON, Wis. — No. 20 Wisconsin women's soccer (7-2-2, 3-1-1 Big Ten) continues conference play on Sunday, Oct. 4, traveling to Lincoln to face Nebraska (3-3-5, 1-2-2 Big Ten). Kickoff is set for 12:35 p.m. CT at Barbara Hibner Stadium, with the match streaming on B1G+.
Here are five things to know before the Badgers face the Huskers:
1. History with Nebraska
Wisconsin leads the all-time series against Nebraska, 7-5-5. The Badgers are 2-2-3 in Lincoln and have not lost to the Huskers since a 1-0 road defeat in 2021.
The teams last met in 2024, playing to a 2-2 draw in Madison. Wisconsin's most recent trip to Lincoln came in 2023, when the teams also finished in a 1-1 draw.
2. Know the Huskers
Nebraska enters Sunday with a 3-3-5 overall record and a 1-2-2 mark in Big Ten play. The Huskers are coming off a 1-0 road victory over No. 20 Michigan, their first conference win and first victory over a ranked opponent since 2022.
Senior defender Reese Borer scored the game-winner against Michigan with less than two minutes remaining. Goalkeeper Avery Gillahan has been a key piece of Nebraska's defense and ranks among the Big Ten leaders in saves, entering the week with 48 on the season.
3. Badgers in Big Ten Play
Wisconsin enters the weekend at 3-1-1 in conference play. The Badgers opened their Big Ten slate with a scoreless draw at Illinois before earning three consecutive shutout victories over Northwestern, Indiana and Maryland.
Wisconsin allowed its first conference goals of the season against Rutgers on Sunday, ending a stretch of four straight Big Ten clean sheets. The Badgers have posted five shutouts overall this season.
4. Last Time Out
Wisconsin saw its nine-match unbeaten streak come to an end with a 3-1 loss at Rutgers. Izy Traub scored her first goal of the season in the 16th minute to even the match at 1-1 before the Scarlet Knights scored twice in the second half.
The teams finished even with 15 shots apiece, while Wisconsin put five attempts on goal. The loss was the Badgers' first since their season opener against TCU and their first in Big Ten play.
