Badgers set to play in third tournament of the fall
MADISON, Wis. — Wisconsin is set to compete in the Rich Harvest Farms Intercollegiate hosted by Northern Illinois at Rich Harvest Farms on October 2-4.
Here are five things to know before the team tees off:
1. Last Time Out: Wisconsin hosted the Badger Invitational on Sept. 26-28. The team finished fourth out of 14 teams with an 867 (+3). Griffin Barela led the team, finishing third with a five-under-par 211. Cameron Huss recorded his first top-five finish, coming in T5 with a two-under-par 214. Coalter Smith rounded out the top-20, coming in T19 with a 217 (+1).
2. The Course: Rich Harvest Farms is home course to the Northern Illinois golf teams. The course was developed by Jerry Rich in 1987 and has since hosted many events, including the 2017 NCAA Golf Championships and the 2009 Solheim Cup. The course ranks No. 90 on Golf Digest's 100 Greatest Golf Courses. For the Rich Harvest Farms Intercollegiate, it will be playing as a 7,200-yard par-72.
3. The Tournament: The last time Wisconsin competed at Rich Harvest Farms, the team finished 11th at the Northern Intercollegiate in 2018. Saturday and Sunday will be tee times off No. 1 and 10 starting at 9:00 a.m. while the final round will be a 9:30 a.m. shotgun.
4. The Field: Competing in the tournament is Arkansas State, James Madison, Kansas State, Marquette, Miami (Ohio), Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Northern Illinois, Purdue and Wisconsin. Playing for Wisconsin is Griffin Barela, Cameron Huss, Graham Moody, Coalter Smith and Ryan Smith. Robbie Morway will be competing as an individual.
