MADISON, Wis. — Despite
Emma Jaskaniec's seventh goal of the season, the No. 18 Wisconsin women's soccer team dropped a 2-1 decision to Penn State on Thursday night at the McClimon Soccer Complex.
Jaskaniec, the Badgers' (7-2-3, 2-1-1 Big Ten) leading scorer, scored in the 12th minute, stealing the ball from Penn State (7-5-0, 1-3 Big Ten) and firing the ball into the corner of the net to put UW up 1-0.
Penn State's Sam Coffey scored to tie the game 1-1 off a direct free kick in the 30th minute.
Both teams had three shots and two corner kick opportunities at the end of the first half and headed into the final 45 minutes knotted up 1-1.
The Badges had a few scoring chances midway through the half thanks to their aggressive press.
Penn State's Jordan Canniff scored from up close in the 81st minute to put Penn State up 2-1 heading into the final stretch of the match.
Wisconsin had six corner kick chances while Penn State had five. Both teams tallied eight shots.
