MADISON, Wis. — Five former Badger greats are set to take the ice for Canada in the 2022 Olympic games. Kristen Campbell, Emily Clark, Ann-Renée Desbiens,Sarah Nurse and Blayre Turnbull will all be playing for Team Canada in Beijing at next month's Winter Olympics.Â
Clark, Desbiens,Nurse and Turnbull were all members of the 2018 Canadian team that won the silver medal. Campbell will be the lone Badger on Team Canada making her Olympic debut in Beijing.

The group will be joined by six American Badgers at the 2022 Winter Olympics as Alex (Rigsby) Cavallini, Brianna Decker, Caroline Harvey, Hilary Knight and Abby Roque, along with UW Equipment Manager Sis Paulsen, were named to the U.S. squad last week.Â

Campbell graduated from Wisconsin in 2020 and is only the fourth goaltender in Wisconsin program history to record 90 wins and was a top-10 finalist for the 2018 Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award. The Brandon, Manitoba, native was named the Most Outstanding Performer at the 2019 NCAA Women's Frozen Four after becoming the first goaltender in NCAA women's hockey history not to allow any goals in the NCAA tournament en route to leading the Badgers to their sixth NCAA title.

Clark competed in her first Olympics in 2018 at PyeongChang, South Korea, with Team Canada. Clark graduated from Wisconsin in 2019, scoring 28 points in 34 games and winning a national championship title her senior season while serving as an alternate captain for the Cardinal and White. She ended her career with 146 points while her 22 game-winning goals are tied for the third-most in school history.Â

The 2017 Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award recipient, Desbiens is set to make her second Olympic appearance with Team Canada after making her debut at the 2018 Winter Games. A two-time All-American, the 2017 Wisconsin graduate set the all-time NCAA record for shutouts with 55, as well as in save percentage (.955) and goals-against average (0.90) in her time with the Badgers.

A 2017 graduate of Wisconsin, Nurse will be competing in her second Olympic games after representing the Red and White at the 2018 Winter Olympics. The Hamilton, Ontario, native scored 137 points in her time with the Badgers and was a second-team All-American her senior year. Nurse appeared in the Frozen Four all four years she attended Wisconsin and her 76 goals rank in the top-10 in program history.Â

Turnbull also made her Olympic debut in PyeongChang, but has been competing with the Canada Women's National Ice Hockey team since 2014. The Stellarton, Nova Scotia, native served as an alternate captain for Hockey Canada on its gold-medal team at the 2021 IIHF Women's World Championships. A captain for UW on its 2015 WCHA Final Faceoff Championship team, Turnbull graduated from Wisconsin in 2015 and set the school record for most short-handed goals in a season with five.

Hockey Canada will open the 2022 Winter Olympics with a tilt against Switzerland at 10:10 p.m. CT on Wednesday, Feb. 2. The Red and White faces Finland on Feb. 4 at 10:10 p.m. CT, the ROC on Sunday, Feb. 6 at 10:10 p.m. CT before concluding group play against the U.S. on Monday, Feb. 7 at 10:10 p.m. CT. The quarterfinals get underway on Thursday, Feb. 10 wtih the bronze and gold medal games taking place on Wednesday, Feb. 16.Â
