
Caroline Crawford joins Badger volleyball

Middle blocker joins team in January
MADISON, Wis. – Head coach Kelly Sheffield has announced that Caroline Crawford has joined the NCAA championship Wisconsin volleyball team. The 6-foot-3 middle blocker comes to Wisconsin after two years at the University of Kansas. She joins the team this January.
"I'm really excited to have CC join the team," Sheffield said. "She's experienced and a competitor. She's can hit off of one or two feet, and has the ability to be a strong blocker in our league. The entire staff is looking forward to getting in the gym and working with her."
A 2021 American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-Midwest Region selection, Crawford aided the Jayhawks to a NCAA Sweet 16 tournament appearance this past season. Over the last two years, Kansas went 30-22 with Crawford earning first-team All-Big 12 honors in 2020 and second-team honors in 2021. She was also a 2021 AVCA honorable mention All-Region pick and was named to the 2020 All-Big 12 Rookie Team. Â
Crawford played and started 51 matches for the Jayhawks, averaging 2.17 kills and 1.18 blocks per set for her career while hitting .298. Â She has recorded double-figure kills in 21 matches, including a career-high 18 kills vs. Wichita State on March 20, 2021. Crawford also has a career best of 10 blocks in three matches. She adds career highs of seven digs and five service aces. Â Crawford earned two Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week honors and three Big 12 Rookie of Week awards.
A native of Lansing, Kansas, Crawford was named the 2019 Kansas 5A State Player of the Year at Lansing High School. She was a 2019 AVCA first-team Under Armour All-American and was ranked No. 22 on the PrepVolleyball Senior Aces list.
In 2018, Crawford won gold at the NORCECA U18 Continental Championship in Honduras with Badger teammate Devyn Robinson. Â The duo also won gold at the 2019 FIVB U18 World Championships in Egypt. She also trained with the USA Volleyball U20 National team in 2020.
