Garrett Model named Big Ten and USA Wrestler of the Week

Badgers senior defeated No. 4 wrestler in the country to lead Badgers to victory over Minnesota
MADISON, Wis. — Both the Big Ten and USA Wrestler have selected Garrett Model as the Wrestler of the Week. Model earned the double honors thanks to a standout performance during Wisconsin's 21-15 victory over Minnesota on Sunday, the Badgers' first win against the Golden Gophers since the 2010-11 season and first under head coach Chris Bono.
A redshirt senior from Stoughton, Wis., Model earned a 10-5 decision at 157 pounds for the upset victory against fourth-ranked Brayton Lee of Minnesota. Model was ranked 33rd in the nation at the time. Model's win was one of the six Badgers victories during the conference dual match to overcome the Gophers in team points.
Model is currently 10-6 overall this season and is the Badgers' starter at 157.
