Finnegan tallies for Wisconsin on beautiful Monday evening
MADISON, Wis – It was a hard-fought battle on Monday at McClimon Soccer Complex between Wisconsin and Drake that ended in a 1-1 draw.Â

Straight from the Pitch – Head Coach Neil Jones
"Credit to Drake who were well-coached and super organized. Even though they were 1-0 down on the road they put up a fight. We are disappointed that we couldn't close out the game. I thought we could've done better on the goal that we gave up. We are continuing to learn lessons, unfortunately they are tough lessons to learn but we need to keep pushing and prepare for Maryland on Friday."
Â
How it happened
It was a beautiful day at McClimon when the Badgers kicked off against Drake. The first half was a back and forth scrap between the two with neither team really having a clear-cut opportunity to go 1-0 up. Going into the half it was tied 0-0, however both teams were hungry for that one chance to put them up. The Badgers were the ones who ended up capitalizing first when Tim Bielic put in a low cross to Jack Finnegan in the 68th minute. Finnegan controlled it, took a touch and quickly buried it past the frozen Drake goalkeeper.
Wisconsin continued to play well, but in the 87th minute the Bulldogs found the tying strike. Drake midfielder Louis Yuill slid outside Wisconsin's box and made contact cleanly with the ball, sending it off the right goal post on it's way into the back of the net.
