Wisconsin wins the Illinois Open

Peyton Sippy leads the Badgers at regular-season finale
CHAMPAIGN, Illinois. – It was a day full of top-ten finishers as the Wisconsin women's cross country had yet another impressive outing Friday morning as five Badgers placed in the top 10 at the Illinois Open. The Badgers scored 17 points, leading them to win their last regular season meet of the 2022 season.
Redshirt senior Peyton Sippy led UW at the meet, winning individual honors as she crossed the 5K course in 17 minutes, 28.1 seconds. Three other Badgers joined Sippy in the top-five finishers of the meet, sophomore Mya Bunke followed right behind Sippy, covering the course in 17:44.9 for a second-place finish. Sophomore Maggie Munson completed the course in 18:01.7, and redshirt sophomore Erinn Hill followed with a time of 18:18.4, earning themselves third and fourth place, respectively.
Also helping lead the Badgers to a first-place finish, junior Ashley Peterson, who finished in 11th place, covering the course in 18:41.5, and senior Kate Ricks, who finished the course in 19:01.2, taking 18th place.
Up Next: The Badgers postseason begins by traveling to Ann Arbor, Michigan, for the 2022 Big Ten Cross Country Championship on Friday, Oct. 28. The women's race with begin at 9:45 a.m. CT.
