MADISON, Wis. — Following a victory in its home opener against North Florida on Sunday, Wisconsin (2-1, 0-0 B1G) prepares to host Bradley (0-2, 0-0 MVC) on Wednesday, Nov. 16. Tip time is 6:30 pm from the Kohl Center. Watch live on BTN+, or listen on WIBA.
Here are five things to know before their second home game of the season:
1. 1-0 AT HOME: Wisconsin started off its home schedule against North Florida on Sunday and protected its home court with a 77-54 win. The Badgers came out sporting new black uniforms, and while they had a slow start to the game, their offense really came together beginning in the second quarter. They shot 69.2% (9-13) from field goal range during this 10-minute span, and contributed to a season-best 44.3% (27-61) from the field. UW continued to score effectively through the second half, and the Badgers saw their largest lead of the night with 26 points in the fourth quarter. Four different Badgers scored in double-digits, including Maty Wilke, Serah Williams, Brooke Schramek and Julie Pospisilova.
2. WILLIAMS NOTCHES DOUBLE-DOUBLE: Freshman Serah Williams has certainly made an impact in the first three games of her collegiate career, and she showed off her versatility against North Florida when she recorded her first double-double. The forward finished with 15 points (5-11 FG, 5-7 FT) and 13 rebounds, while also adding three blocks and two assists. She had a game-high in rebounds, and tied Maty Wilke for a team-high in points. Williams is a player that head coach Marisa Moseley has mentioned expects to average a double-double, so the Badgers will hope this is just one of many for the newcomer.
3. PROTECTING THE BALL: One of the key differentiators in the Badgers' game against the Ospreys was their ability to keep hold of the ball and not produce many turnovers. Wisconsin had 16 turnovers against Milwaukee and 20 against Kansas State, but they finished with just 12 against North Florida. Only three turnovers were produced in the second half, and UNF ended up scoring just nine points off of these mistakes throughout the game.
4. NOT SLOWING DOWN: Maty Wilke once again put her talents on display, this time against UNF. She scored in double-figures in the third-straight game and accrued 15 points (5-9 FG, 3-6 3FG, 2-2 FT) against the Ospreys. She brought her season average to 14.7 points per contest and also added three rebounds, two assists and three steals on Sunday. She may be new to the collegiate game, but she appears as a seasoned veteran on the court.
5. SCOUTING THE BRAVES: Bradley Is 0-2 so far this season, coming off tough losses to Missouri and South Dakota, and is looking to attain its first win. Bradley is a relatively experienced team, with just two freshmen and seven upperclassmen, and added four transfers to the roster in the offseason. After two games, the team is led in scoring by Caroline Waite, who is averaging 11.5 points per game early on in the season. She was named the MVC Freshman of the Year in 2022 and was the top scoring underclassman in The Valley in the 2021-22 season with 13.0 points per game. She is followed by sophomore Alex Rouse who is currently second on the team in points per game with 10.5 and tied for first with Waite in average steals per game with 1.5.The two players combined for 29 of Bradley's 53 points scored against South Dakota.
