Moseley announces her second Badger class

MADISON, Wis. – Wisconsin women's basketball head coach Marisa Moseley will have four student-athletes join the Badgers next season as they each signed a National Letter of Intent on Wednesday.

D'Yanis Jimenez, a 5-foot-8 guard from Cape Coral, Florida; Leena Patibandla, a 6-foot guard from Canton, Ohio; Imbie Jones, a 6-foot-2 forward from Seattle, Washington; and Tessa Grady, a 6-foot-2 forward from Dublin, Ohio, will join the Badgers in 2023. 

"Coming to Madison from across the US, our class of 2027 is composed of four dynamic young women. Each of these new Badgers epitomize what our program stands for: elite and skilled competitors, who prioritize the team and understand success comes from our collective efforts." 

"Each of these student-athletes are committed to this program's vision to win championships on the court, while remaining contributing members to the community. In choosing Wisconsin they understand this four year decision will have a lasting impact on the next forty years of their lives. I am eager for Badger fans to see their versatile games and get to know them as people. I am honored to become their coach and cannot wait for them to join us in Madtown."

D'Yanis Jimenez

5-8, Guard
Hometown: Cape Coral, Fla.
School: Charlotte High School / Coach: Matthew Stevenson
Club: Miami Suns Fowles EYBL / Coach: Crystal Primm

  • Two-time All-Area First Team
  • Aided her team to two District Championships and two a regional championship
  • Appeared in state semifinals twice
  • Awarded Girls Basketball Player of the Year in the 2020-21 season
  • Currently has 1,179 points / 408 rebounds / 169 assists / 228 steals
  • A/B Honor Roll recipient
  • Also played for the Lady Wolfpack travel team 

Moseley on Jimenez: "D'Yanis is an electric and heady guard with a scorers mentality. Her handle and explosive bounce allow her to attack the lane to distribute or finish. She has a tremendous feel for the game and will be a terror for opponents on the defensive end of the floor. D'Yanis' instincts enable her to know exactly what her team needs to win! A consummate competitor, she is destined to become a great leader on the court for us. Badger faithful, please help me welcome D to our family!"

Leena Patibandla

6-0, Guard
Hometown: Canton, Ohio
School: Jackson High School / Coach: Anthony Butch 
Club: Buckeye State Blast AAU Program / Coach: Tyler Bates

  • No. 5 ranked overall prospect in Ohio and No. 2 ranked combo guard by Prep Girls Hoops
  • First Indian-American to play at the Power 5 level
  • Awarded All-Federal League, All-District and All-Inland District honors
  • Led her high school team to regional championships and a state final four finish in the 2021-22 season
  • 2020 Stark County Female Athlete of the Year
  • Also lettered in volleyball, discus and high jump
  • Recipient of President's Award and AP Scholar Award
  • Member of over ten extracurriculars, including Spanish Honors Society, National Honors Society, Science Honors Society and Math Honors Society

Moseley on Patibandla: "An awe-inspiring multi-sport athlete, Leena's athleticism and versatility are just some of the characteristics that make her special. Her ability to score with ease at all three levels or hit a teammate in stride with a perfect pass will be great additions to our program! Her length and basketball IQ will allow her to be extremely disruptive on the defensive end of the floor.  Leena will also be the first American born Indian to play Division I basketball at the Power 5 level. Please help me welcome her to our Badger family!"

Imbie Jones

6-2, Forward
Hometown: Seattle, Was.
School: Garfield High School / Coach: Marvin Hall 
Club: Way to Win / Coach: Barbara Berry 

  • ESPN 3-star recruit
  • Ranked No. 2 for Class of 2023 by Washington Prep Girls Hoops
  • Regarded as a Junior All-Star Top 100 player
  • Led her team to a 20-0 overall record in 2022 and finished with a Washington State Championship
  • Awarded to 2022 All-Metro League Second Team and 2020 All-Metro League Third Team
  • Currently averages 10 points and six rebounds per game
  • Also participated in three years of varsity volleyball
  • Listed to Freshman Dean's List and Honor Roll

Moseley on Jones: "Imbie is an athletic and versatile player who's skillset fit perfectly into our ever evolving position less game. She has just scratched the surface of what she is capable of accomplishing on the court. Her ability to consistently rebound and attack in transition set her apart. Imbie's relentless desire to get better and grow her game will make her a match-up nightmare for our opponents. I am elated to have Imbie join our Badger family."

Tessa Grady

6-2, Forward
Hometown: Dublin, Ohio
School: Dublin Coffman High School / Coach: Adam Banks
Club: SMAC / Coach: Carlos Shea-Ron; United / Coach: Richard Jeter

  • First-team all conference player in her first three seasons
  • Conference Player of the Year and 1st Team All-Central District in the 2021-22 
  • Awarded second team all-state her junior year
  • Currently has 876 rebounds / 277 blocks / 94 steals
  • 2021 Aqua Platinum Run 4 Roses Champions and awarded 2021 Run 4 Roses All-Tournament Team
  • Listed to honor roll as a freshman and merit roll as a sophomore
  • Brother Griffin played football at UW-Madison from 2016-2020

Moseley on Grady: "A Badger most of her life, Tessa is a quick and versatile perimeter threat, who is deadly from beyond the arc. Tessa has an incredible feel for the game and will quietly fill up a stat sheet. Her length and athleticism afford her the opportunity to take opponents off the bounce or post them in the lane. She has fantastic court vision and will make the other four players on the floor better.  Tessa's competitive nature allows her to impact the game on both ends of the court at a high level.
