Badgers victorious over No. 5 Michigan for fifth-straight win

Wisconsin scores four consecutive goals in 6-3 to win on Suter Night
MADISON, Wis. — After overcoming an early two-goal deficit, the Wisconsin men's hockey team rallied past No. 5 Michigan with a total team effort on Friday during Suter Night at the Kohl Center.
The Badgers (7-8-0, 1-6-0 0-0-0) used four consecutive goals and got points from 13 different players to take down their Big Ten conference rival, 6-3, for their fifth straight win.
The Wolverines (10-6-1, 2-5-0 Big Ten) struck first to take a one-goal lead at 10:58 in the first period. Gavin Brindley deflected the puck to TJ Hughes on the edge of the crease who teed up a one-timer for Rutger McGroarty in the slot.
Michigan's Luke Hughes found the back of the net minutes later on a rush with McGroarty and Hughes.
With under six minutes remaining in the period, the Badgers battled back to even the score 2-2 heading into the first intermission.
Charlie Stramel rushed the puck up the ice and beat Michigan goaltender Erik Portillo glove side. Mike Vorlicky and Jack Gorniak battled for the puck in the Badgers' zone and set up Stramel on the breakout for a clean path up the ice.
Michigan was then assessed a five-minute major for head contact leading to the Badger's first power play of the game.
At 16:41, Brock Caufield fired the puck past Portillo from in front of the crease. Mathieu De St. Phalle won the race to a loose puck in the corner and set a pass to Tyson Jugnauth on the point who set up Caufield in the slot while Carson Bantle screened the goaltender.
Wisconsin took a 3-2 lead just under four minutes into the second period when Corson Ceulemans scored from the blue line. Owen Lindmark wrestled the puck away from a Michigan defenseman for Jack Horbach to set up Ceulemans on the blue line. He found a lane through traffic and let off a wrist shot for the Badger's first lead of the game.
Zach Urdahl jumped in on the scoring for Wisconsin's fourth consecutive goal of the game at 14:23 in the second. Sam Stange bumped the puck to Urdahl at the top of the circle before he handed it off to Vorlicky, who dropped it right back to him on the point. Urdahl lined up a shot that sailed through traffic and into the back of the net.
Michigan crept within one of the Badger's lead, scoring during a period of four-on-four play in the third period. Seamus Casey sent a pass back to Luke Hughes as he entered the UW zone. Hughes connected with Adam Fantilli on the goal line who let off a low-angle shot that slipped into the net.
Cruz Luciuis added to Wisconsin's tally in the bottom half of the third period. Stramel muscled the puck away from a Michigan defender deep in the offensive zone and set up Daniel Laatsch for a shot from the point. Lucius deflected the puck in mid air past Portillo to give the Badgers a 5-3 lead.
Owen Lindmark got credit for the Badgers' empty-net goal in the final minute of the third period to finish off No. 5 Michigan.
The Badger's 6-3 win over No. 5 Michigan marks their third win over ranked opponents this season.
The Badgers also honored the contributions of the Suter family to Wisconsin hockey with a ceremonial puck drop prior to the game.
