Nurse breaks Olympic record for most points at a single tournament
BEIJING – Five former Wisconsin women's hockey players led Canada to a gold medal at the 2022 Winter Olympics thanks to a 3-2 win over the U.S. in the gold medal game on Thursday.
Canada's Sarah Nurse scored and added an assist to break the women's record for the most points recorded at a single Olympic tournament as the former Badger All-American ended the tournament with 18 points Her 13 assists were also the most at a single women's Olympics.
Hilary Knight scored a shorthanded goal for U.S. in her American record 22nd Olympic game while Abby Roque assisted on Team USA's second tally.Â
A Badger was between the pipes for both teams as Ann-Renee Desbiens stopped 38 shots she faced while Alex Cavallini posted 18 saves in the setback. It marked the first time that two goaltenders from the same school started against each other in a gold medal game at the Olympics.
Kristen Campbell, Emily Clark, Desbiens, Nurse and Blayre Turnbull all earned their first Olympic gold medals as Clark, Desbiens, Nurse and Turnbull all earned silver at the 2018 Winter Olympics.

For the U.S., Cavallini, Brianna Decker, incoming freshman Caroline Harvey, Knight and Abby Roque all collected silver.
