Box Score MINNEAPOLIS — The Badgers fell to No. 4 Minnesota in the opening matchup of their final regular season series at 3M at Mariucci on Friday.

The Gophers (22-11-0, 17-6-0 1-2-0 Big Ten) got on the board midway through the first period. Jonny Sorenson netted a shot from the slot on a play from Grant Cruikshank and Mike Koster as they entered the zone.

Junior Jared Moe, making a return to his former school, came up with a string of saves to keep it a one goal game for the majority of the second period.

Jaxon Nelson doubled Minnesota's lead six seconds into a power-play opportunity in the final minute of the first period, a back breaker for the Badgers. Jackson LaCombe and Aaron Huglen worked the puck along the blue line and Nelson deflected LaCombe's shot into the net.

The third period brought a bout of scoring from Minnesota, who entered the period with a 2-0 lead.

Ben Meyers netted three goals in the third period for a hat trick and 5-0 shutout win for the Gophers.
