Notes to know
- Wisconsin's eight-game unbeaten streak to open the year (6-0-2) ranks as its second-longest unbeaten streak to start a season. Only the 1981-82 team's 13-0-1 start to a campaign is longer
- Wisconsin's first sweep over Minnesota at the Kohl Center since Feb. 6-7, 2014, when UW skated to a pair of 2-1 victories over a then-No. 1 ranked Gopher squad
- It marked UW's first sweep over the Gophers since Oct. 26-27, 2023, when it captured 5-2 and 3-2 wins over then-No. 1 Minnesota
- UW's shutout marked its first shutout over Minnesota at the Kohl Center and its first at home since Nov. 12, 1983, at the Dane County Coliseum
- Blake Montgomery has four goals in his last three games
- Quinn Finley and Simon Tassy remain the only two Badgers to have a goal in every series
- Daniel Hauser notched his second shutout of the season, also earning one in UW's season-opening 3-0 win at Lindenwood on Oct. 3
Straight from the rink
Head Coach Mike Hastings
On Blake Montgomery's development as a freshman
"He's one of those guys who comes to the rink with a smile on his face. He plays with a calmness, but he's comfortable with the puck on his stick … He doesn't throw a lot of pucks around without purpose."
On fans at the Kohl Center
"We need [the fans] for this place to be special, because they are such a big part of it. When you can go through a six-game homestand and not lose a hockey game, I think you want to give people a reason to come back."
Freshman forward Blake Montgomery
On opening conference play with a sweep
"It just fuels our confidence really well moving forward, especially with a big weekend next week. So it's just that mindset, we can keep it. We can keep it rolling."
Junior forward Quinn Finley
On the atmosphere tonight
"Hearing all the fans and the students come tonight, the white out is super nice, and when that place is packed, it's loud. It definitely helps us and gives us energy, and we build off that."
