2022 Olympian arrives in Madison after four seasons at BU

MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin women's hockey program announced Tuesday that 2022 Olympian Jesse Compher will join the Badgers for the 2022-23 season.

Compher, who helped Team USA win silver at the 2022 Winter Olympics, will have one year of eligibility remaining after playing four seasons of college hockey at Boston University.

"I'm excited to get on campus with all my new teammates and join a winning culture while also having the chance to pursue my masters," Compher said.

At the 2022 Winter Olympics, Compher scored three goals and added an assist for the U.S. in her first Olympics for the Red, White and Blue.

The Northbrook, Illinois, native posted three points at the 2021 IIHF Women's World Championship. She also played for Team USA at the 2019 IIHF Women's World Championship, helping the U.S. win gold, and at the 2016 and 2017 IIHF Under-18 Women's World Championship, leading the U.S. to a gold medal in 2016.

During her time at BU, Compher recorded 46 goals and 81 assists in 109 games for the Terriers. Her breakout season came during her sophomore year in 2018-19 as she was named a second-team All-American and was a Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award Top-10 Finalist after recording 61 points thanks to 17 goals and 44 assists. Her 44 assists were a program record for the Terriers and she became only the second player in school history to record 60 points in a season. Compher also was a Hockey East Second Team All-Star in 2020 and 2021 for the Terriers and captained the team during the 2020-21 season.

Prior to her collegiate career, Compher skated with the Chicago Mission where she played with future teammate Nicole LaMantia, helping the Mission win silver at the 2017 national championship. She also was a five-time Illinois state hockey champion.

The daughter of Bob and Valerie Compher, Jesse has two siblings, Morgan and J.T., who currently plays for the Colorado Avalanche.

She graduated from Boston University in 2021 with a degree in hospitality.
