Big Ten rowing takes place Sunday in Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS – While thousands of students are celebrating graduation at Wisconsin, the women's rowing team will be spending the weekend in Indianapolis competing on Sunday at the 2022 Big Ten Rowing Championships at Eagle Creek Park.
"We are going into this regatta to compete to win, and to secure an NCAA bid," head coach Bebe Bryans said. "Our results up until this time do not reflect the speed that this team has now, and we are really looking forward to showing what Wisco can do - bring our best to the biggest moments.
The Badgers look to peak at the final event before the NCAA selections are announced on Tuesday. UW's performance will go a long way towards the program earning a 14th consecutive NCAA championships bid.
UW has placed in the top four at the Big Ten championships in each of the last 13 seasons and in 18 of 21 years the event was held. The Badgers finished in the top three in 11 of the last 13 years, capturing the conference title in 2010.
UW owns 17 NCAA championships appearances since the event began in 1997.
IN THE POLLS
The Badgers will compete against No. 6 Michigan, No. 9 Ohio State, No. 17 Indiana and No. 18 Rutgers, along with Minnesota, Michigan State and Iowa, all of whom are receiving votes for the top-20 of the Pocock Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association Poll. The Badgers are the highest team receiving votes in the Big Ten outside the top-20.

"Coach Monica Whitehouse's freshmen group has been strong all year and every day of water time we've had this month has helped them come together to find more speed. The varsity squad has seen a lot of movement as we work to find the best, fastest combinations for all of the boats and the team has stepped up to support that. Our motto has been to get a week better every day this month, and we expect to live up to that every day including race day on Sunday. The Badgers will be ready to bring their best."
