Nine Badgers to partake in Hockey Canada Women’s Program Selection Camp

Three current and six former Badgers to partake in 11-day camp
MADISON, Wis. – A mix of nine former and current Wisconsin women's hockey student-athletes will take place at the Hockey Canada BFL National Women's Program Selection Camp, scheduled to take place Aug. 3-14 at WinSport's Canada Olympic Park in Calgary, Alberta.
Current Badgers Sophie Shirley, Maddi Wheeler and Sarah Wozniewicz will join former Badgers Kristen Campbell, Emily Clark, Ann-Renee Desbiens, Meaghan Mikkelson, Sarah Nurse and Blayre Turnbull at the camp. In addition, Brette Pettet was invited to the camp, but is unable to attend.
Campbell, Clark, Desbiens, Nurse and Turnbull were a part of Canada's squad that won gold at the 2022 Winter Olympics while Mikkelson is a three-time Olympic medalist for Team Canada. Shirley, Wheeler and Wozniewicz also have international experience with Canada with its under-18 program.
The camp will be used to select the national team that will compete at the 2022 IIHF Women's World Championship, Aug. 24 – Sept. 4 in Denmark and also an under-22 team that will face the U.S. under-22 team in a three-game series later in August.
