MADISON, Wis. - Fueled by a relentless attack, the No. 24 Wisconsin women's soccer team notched a convincing 3-0 victory over Green Bay Sunday afternoon at McClimon Field.
After a delayed start due to thunderstorms in the area, Wisconsin dominated from the start, holding 79% of the possession within the first half. The Badgers outshot the Phoenix 24-1 and did not allow a Green Bay shot for the final 74 minutes of play.
Emma Jaskaniec struck with the first goal of the match in the 22nd minute, lofting a shot from the top of the box that landed just under the crossbar.
Wisconsin held the same tenacity in the latter half of the match as they added two more goals to put the game out of reach. Maddie Ishaug got her first goal of the season with a strike that soared into the upper 90 in the 58th minute. Rylee Howard slotted her first career goal on a scrappy slip-in in front of the net in the 66th minute as Wisconsin recorded its third shutout in four games.
The Badgers will return to the road as they visit South Bend to take on Notre Dame on Sept. 1 at 6 p.m.
