Wisconsin Tops Milwaukee, 3-2

MADISON, Wis. - The Wisconsin women's soccer team used early goals as it downed in-state rival Milwaukee, 3-2, Thursday evening at McClimon Field.

Emma Jaskaniec is having the senior season all players dream of, as she has added a point in each of the last six games. In the 28th minute, Jaskaniec buried in her own rebound after Milwaukee's Kendall Edwards saved the initial shot for her fifth goal of the season.

Wisconsin was granted a free kick in the last five minutes of the half and made the most of that opportunity thanks to a beauty of a pass from Aidan McConnell. As the ball soared towards the box Maddie Ishaug stuck her leg out to volley in her second goal of the season, extending the Badgers' lead to two at the break.

Shortly after the start of the second half, Milwaukee's Kayla Rollins scored to cut Wisconsin's lead to one. However, Aryssa Mahrt had something to prove tonight as she added a goal from just inside the box to reclaim the two-goal advantage the 58th minute.

Although Rollins peppered in her second of the night with just under nine minutes to go, the Badgers held off the Panthers to remain undefeated at home.

After adding a game to their schedule, Wisconsin will next host Northern Illinois on Monday, Sept. 12 at 4 p.m.
