Badgers wrap up day one of Larry Wieczorek Invitational

Stieve and Willemse record wins in 3,000 meters
IOWA CITY, Iowa – The Wisconsin women's track and field team kicked off the first day of competition at the Larry Wieczorek Invitational on Friday afternoon.
Standing out for the Badgers was senior Samantha Stieve, who won the pro women's 3,000 meter run in 9 minutes, 29.96 seconds. Sophomore Leane Willemse placed first in the premier 3,000 meters in 9:40.88, a new personal best in the event. Erin Hill and Ashley Peterson also ran in the event, taking 10th in 10:04.19 and 12th in 10:09.03, respectively.
Also standing out for Wisconsin on the first day of competition was freshman Shaina Zinter, who placed fourth in the 600 meters, running a personal best time of 1:31.94. Senior Danielle Bellino followed right behind, coming in fifth in 1:32.02.
In the 200 meters, Kiley Robbins placed eighth in the pro event in 24.73 while Armoni Brown took sixth in the premier race in 25.18.

The Badgers compete in day two of the Wieczorek Invitational on Saturday with events beginning at 11 a.m. The UW throwers compete at the Red Hawk Opener in Ripon, Wisconsin, starting at 11 a.m.
