Promoting education outside the classroom – Pledge to read like Bucky TODAY!
MADISON, Wis. — This spring, Wisconsin Athletics is excited to announce the release of its Book It with Bucky Program presented by TDS! Beginning in February until May, Wisconsin Athletics will celebrate the importance of reading and literacy. Bucky is encouraging young readers across the state to grab a book and start reading!
Wisconsin students in sixth grade or below are encouraged to make a reading pledge and begin to read like Bucky. For every 30 minutes a student reads, a parent, guardian or teacher is to initial on the Book It with Bucky reading log. In return, Wisconsin Athletics is pleased to offer complimentary tickets to the softball game on May 5 to every student who makes the pledge. Prior to the game, Wisconsin Athletics, partnered with TDS, will be hosting a celebration where students get the chance to exchange their reading logs for various prizes!
Wisconsin Athletics is encouraging all young readers to share their progress, favorite books and reading moments on social media using the #BookItwithBucky for a chance to be featured on Wisconsin Athletics social media.
Interactive reading activities will be available every other week starting in March through the end of April. For those who make the pledge, emails will be sent out with exclusive access to Book It with Bucky content such as bookmarks, reading worksheets, certificates and more!
