Chucky Hepburn and
Steven Crowl combined to score 42 points, but Wisconsin suffered a 79-69 defeat on the road against a hot-shooting Illinois team on Saturday.
In a meeting of last season's co-champions of the Big Ten regular season title, the Badgers (11-3, 3-1 Big Ten) suffered their first conference loss of the season, while the Illini (10-5, 1-3 B1G) earned their first league win.
UW was without leading scorer
Tyler Wahl, who was unable to play due to injury.
Wisconsin shot just 27.6 percent (8-for-29) from 3-point range, while Illinois was 52.6 percent (10-for-19).
The Illini were led by 24 points from Terrence Shannon Jr. and 20 points from Coleman Hawkins, who hit six triples in the game.
