MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin women's soccer team (10-2-3) returns to the McClimon Soccer Complex for its final home match of the regular season on Sunday, Oct. 15. The Badgers will play Ohio State at 1 p.m. (CT)
Here are five things to know:
1. KNOW THE OPPONENT: The Buckeyes are 7-5-2 on the season and 3-3-1 in Big Ten play. The side sits in the middle of the Big Ten standings and are currently tied with Michigan State and Rutgers, with all three having identical records. Ohio State is coming off a 2-0 defeated to Minnesota on Thursday, Oct. 12.
The Badgers are 11-12-8 all-time against the Buckeyes, which includes a 9-3-4 record at home. The last time Wisconsin played OSU was back on October 20, 2021, which resulted in a 0-0 draw.
2. BIG TEN CONTENTION: The Badgers currently sit unopposed in second in the Big Ten standings, behind only No. 6 Penn State. The race for the Big Ten Championship is very much so still alive, with the Badgers chasing their first Big Ten Championship since 2019 and eighth regular season title overall.
3. RECAPPING THE WEEK: It was a thriller in Champaign on Thursday, Oct. 12 when the Badgers took on the Fighting Illini. The two sides fought down to the wire when the Badgers pulled off the improbable. With eight seconds left to go in the match, Sarah Rosenbaum scored the game winning goal off a pass by Aryssa Mahrt. It was a stunning game-winner by the Badgers, who walked away with a massive three Big Ten points. It is Wisconsin's fourth straight win.Â
