Three Badgers chosen for WCHA weekly awards
MADISON, Wis. – Following a sweep at Lindenwood, Wisconsin women's hockey junior Lacey Eden, sophomore Caroline Harvey, and freshman Cassie Hall all received WCHA weekly awards, the league announced Monday.Â
Eden was named the WCHA Forward of the week, while Harvey won WCHA Defender of the Week and Hall was chosen as the WCHA Rookie of the week.Â
A native of Annapolis, Maryland, Eden earns her second WCHA Forward of the Week award after posting five points during the No. 1 Badgers' sweep of Lindenwood. The junior's five points were the second most in the league, while her five goals paced the NCAA over the weekend. On Friday, Eden posted her first collegiate hat trick in UW's 16-1 triumph over Lindenwood, giving UW its first sweep of the season.Â
A 2022 Olympian, Harvey enjoyed a five-point night against Lindenwood on Friday, posting her first goal of the season before adding four assists in the record 16-1 win. Her five points were tied for the most by a league defender with defensive partner Anna Wilgren while her +11 plus/minus rating over the weekend was the best mark in the NCAA. A three-time WCHA Defender of the Week honoree, Harvey also broke the school record with a +9 plus/minus rating on Friday.Â
In just her second career game as a Badger, Hall recorded four goals becoming the seventh player to record four or more goals in a game. The South Lyon, Michigan, ended her first weekend of collegiate hockey with four points, which was tied for the most by a rookie skater in the WCHA and ranked third among all league skaters.Â
The No. 1 Badgers continue the action with their home-opener against Boston College on Thursday and Friday at LaBahn Arena. Puck drop for both games is at 7 p.m. and tickets are still available for Friday's contest. Two-time Olympian Karyn Bye will drop the puck prior to the home opener while the Badgers will raise its 2023 NCAA Championship Banner prior to puck drop on Friday.
