MANHATTAN, Kan. —  Wisconsin will face Kansas State in its first road test of the season on Sunday, Nov. 19. Tip off is set for 4 p.m. (CT) from Bramlage Coliseum in Manhattan, Kan., and will be streamed live on ESPN+.
Here are five things to know before the Badgers matchup against Wildcats.
1. PORTER'S VERSATILITY: After averaging 6.8 points in the 2022-23 season, Ronnie Porter has been perhaps one of the most surprising, yet exciting players to watch on the Badgers thus far. With a career-high 17 points (7-13 FG, 3-7 3FG), six assists and an additional five steals against South Dakota State on Tuesday, Porter has proven to be a versatile player with tenacious grit. After three games, Porter leads the team in steals with 14 and is tied for team-highs in points, 3-pointers made, rebounds and assists.
2. SHRAMEK'S WINNING SHOT: After a quiet start to the season with a combined 13 points in the exhibition against UW-Whitewater and first game against Milwaukee, Brooke Schramek has begun putting her experience on display. Schramek had 10 points (2-4 3FG) and eight rebounds against Western Illinois on Nov. 9, and tallied 14 points (2-5 3FG), six rebounds and one assist against South Dakota State. With Serah Williams battling foul trouble, the forward filled in admirably in the post and was a strong finisher around the rim. Her most memorable shot came with 0.8 seconds left on the clock as she dropped in a layup to secure Wisconsin's 66-64 victory.Â
3. EARLY SEASON SUCCESS: Wisconsin is off to its first 3-0 start to a season since 2018-19, and have looked strong early on. With wins over Milwaukee, Western Illinois and South Dakota State, this Badger roster has shown solid depth and also found ways to integrate its five sophomores into the lineup. The Badgers are chasing a 4-0 start to their season, which would be the team's best since opening the 2018-19 campaign with six straight wins.Â
4. LOOKING FOR REDEMPTION: Wisconsin and Kansas State will match up against one another for the second-consecutive season, and the the third time in each program's history. Last season, the two teams faced off in the historic Brew City Battle inside of American Family Field, making it the first basketball game to ever be played inside of the stadium. In one of the most unique atmospheres for a women's basketball game, Wisconsin pushed the pace early and led by as many as 13 in the second quarter. However, K-State pulled away in the second half, and ultimately won by a final score of 77-63.Â
5. SCOUTING THE WILDCATS: After playing two neutral site games, one in Milwaukee and one in Las Vegas at the UNLV Lady Rebel Shootout in 2006, the Badgers and Wildcats will play inside Bramlage Arena on Sunday. K-State is a historically strong basketball program that creates a difficult atmosphere for opposing teams. The Wildcats have finished in the top 35 nationally among NCAA Division I attendance leaders in women's basketball for the last 19 consecutive seasons. Additionally, Kansas State is coming off one of its best wins in program history, with a 65-58 win over No. 2 Iowa on the road on Thursday. The team is led by 2022-23 second-team All-American and three-time All-Big 12 honoree Ayoka Lee. The senior is averaging 18.0 points, 9.5 rebounds and five blocks per game after three games this season.Â
