Wisconsin dominates Northern Illinois, 75-54

Five players score in double digits

MADISON, Wis. — After more than two weeks on the road, the Wisconsin women's basketball team returned home to face Northern Illinois, and won by a final score of 75-54 on Wednesday, Nov. 29, inside the Kohl Center. The team is now 4-0 at home.

The Badgers put on an assertive offensive performance against the Huskies, and looked strong from start to finish in their contest Wednesday night. Five UW players scored in double digits, which included Serah Williams (16), D'Yanis Jimenez, Sania Copeland (11), Ronnie Porter (10) and Natalue Leuzinger (10).

As soon as the game tipped off, the Badgers offense was up and running as Copeland laid in a bucket four seconds into the contest. Back-to-back layups from Leuzinger secured the Badgers the lead, which they maintained for the rest of the quarter. UW finished the first ten minutes up 20-14, courtesy of a Jimenez three-point buzzer beater to end it.

The third quarter played out similar to the one before, with Wisconsin maintaining the same electric offense. The second-half scoring was kicked off by Brooke Schramek who drained an early three, and from there, the Badgers kept on rolling. Williams added her fourth block of the game, her 20th of the season, making her the conference leader in blocks. The Badgers finished up 75-54.

Wisconsin shot 44.4% (28-63) from the field range, and 32.0% (8-25) from 3-point range. The Badgers shot 78.6% (11-14)  from the free-throw line. The team finished with 41 rebounds and 20 assists, as well as a season-best 12 turnovers.
