Bielic, Baldvinsson, Quintos and Fleming all recognized
MADISON, Wis. – Four Wisconsin men's soccer players earned honors from the Big Ten on Friday as the 2023 Big Ten Tournament gets underway.
Second Team All-Big Ten:
Bielic, a team-captain, matched his season high in goals this season with two. He's played in all 16 games for the Badgers this season, starting 14 of them.
Birgir Baldvinsson, a graduate transfer from Iceland, earns All-Big Ten Second team honors in his first season in the NCAA. Baldvinsson led all defenders on the team with two goals and five points. He's started in all 15 games he's played.
From Libertyville, Illinois, freshman Trip Fleming led all Badger non-keepers in minutes and was the only one to start all 16 regular-season games. The midfielder was on the field for all but one Badger goal this season. Earlier in the year, he made TopDrawerSoccer's Midseason Top 100 Freshman list at No. 45.
Ryan Quintos was on that list as well, coming in at No. 35. The defender from Glen Ellyn, Illinois, played all 90 minutes in a game 13 out of his 15 games played. Quintos has played a key role in a defense that has seven shutouts this season, and is very involved in Badger set-pieces, recording five shots on goal, tied for the most of any Badger defender.
Bielic, Baldvinsson, Fleming, Quintos, and the rest of the Badgers travel to Indiana Friday, Nov. 3, to take on the Hoosiers in the first round of the Big Ten Tournament. Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m. and can be streamed on the B1G+ app, as well as bigtenplus.com.
