Fourteen Badgers to take part in Rivalry Series
December 13, 2023 | Women's Hockey
US and Canada play on Thursday and Saturday this week
MADISON, Wis. – Seven current and seven former Badgers are set to represent Canada and the United States this week in the December games of the 2023-24 Rivalry Series.
Former Badgers Hilary Knight and Abby Roque will be joined by current UW student-athletes Britta Curl, Lacey Eden, Laila Edwards, Caroline Harvey, Casey O'Brien, Kirsten Simms and Anna Wilgren as they represent Team USA in the series.
Curl, Eden, Edwards, Knight and Roque each competed in the November games of the Rivalry Series, with Knight, the captain of the squad, leading all skaters in points with four. Harvey, and Wilgren will rejoin the U.S. Women's National Team, while Simms and O'Brien will make their senior team debuts.
Wisconsin alum Kristen Campbell, Emily Clark, Sarah Nurse, Ann-Renée Desbiens and Blayre Turnbull will don the maple leaf as they look to even the series. Despite being down three games to none during the 2022-23 series, this squad helped lead Canada to a 4-3 series win.
Team USA currently leads the Rivalry Series 2-0 after taking both of the November contests. The series features seven total games, including three more that will be played in early February.
The December stretch of the series begins this Thursday with a 6 p.m. CT puck drop at Kitchener Memorial Auditorium in Kitchener, Ontario, and will wrap up with a 4 p.m. CT tilt on Saturday at Progressive Auto Sales Arena in Sarnia, Ontario. Both games can be watched on the NHL Network.
