Senior leads WCHA in save percentage and goals-against average
MADISON, Wis. -- Wisconsin women's hockey netminder Cami Kronish added another honor to her collection on Thursday as the senior was named a semifinalist for the Women's Hockey Goalie of the Year Award, the Women's Hockey Commissioners Association announced on Thursday.Â
The two-time WCHA Goaltender of the Week leads all WCHA netminders with a 1.26 goals-against average while her .936 save percentage also paces the league. Her goals-against average ranks third in the NCAA while her save percentage ranks seventh in the country. Her six shutouts this season also rank fifth in the country and second in the WCHA
A New York, New York, native, Kronish holds a 13-5-1 record in net for Wisconsin this season and had the school's fourth-longest shutout streak of 298 minutes, 46 seconds from Sept. 22 to Oct. 28, 2022. She also appeared on ESPN on Nov. 19 after making the No. 1 play in SportsCenter's Top-10 plays, a save on her back, in a 3-3 tie against then-No. 1 Minnesota.
Kronish joins fellow WCHA goaltenders Emma Soderberg (UMD) and Skylar Vetter (Minnesota) on the 11-player list.
Kronish and the No. 8 Badgers welcome No. 14 St. Cloud State to Madison for a special weekend of hockey. The Badgers and Huskies will meet on Friday night in the seventh Fill the Bowl game at the Kohl Center as UW looks to match its NCAA single-game attendance record of 15,359. Tickets are only $2 and are still available on UWBadgers.Com. The two teams wrap up their series on Saturday with a 3 p.m. game at LaBahn Arena.Â
