Seth Gross to compete in Senior World Team Trials Challenge

MADISON, Wis. — Wisconsin wrestling assistant coach Seth Gross, a member of the 2022 Team USA World Team that won the Wrestling World Cup, is set to compete in the 2023 Senior World Team Trials Challenge this Sunday, May 21. Gross is seeded second overall at 61 kilograms

Following the 2023 Pritchard Companies U.S. Open Championships in Las Vegas in April, there are only three weight classes competing — 61 KG, 92 KG and 125 KG — at the Sr. WTT Challenge to determine who's heading to compete at Final X (the final competition of qualification). Gross finished sixth overall at the Open.

Seven of the 10 Final X men's freestyle pairings have already been set following the U.S. Open. The winners of this Challenge tournament will earn a spot in Final X to compete in a best-of-3 series on June 10 for a spot on Team USA's 2023 World Team.

"Though he lost to DeSanto just a few weeks ago, Seth Gross should not be underestimated at the trials. In fact, last year Gross lost to Nico Megaludis (4-1) at the US Open before getting revenge at the trials with a pin. Then, Gross went on to pull off the biggest upset of Final X last year when he defeated Daton Fix in an epic, 3-match series. Gross has proved he's able to make key adjustments in a short amount of time and with the limited field at the trials, we should expect him to be prepared against the likes of both Austin DeSanto and Daton Fix."

The WTT Challenge event is being held in Colorado Springs, Colorado at Discovery Canyon High School.
