WEST WINDSOR, N.J. - The 14th-ranked Wisconsin men's rowing team heads to Mercer Lake this weekend to compete in the 2023 IRA National Championships. Races will take place between June 2-4 and Wisconsin is sending four boats including its varsity, second varsity and third varsity eight, as well as a varsity four.
Last year, Wisconsin finished in 11th place out of 23 teams at the IRA Championships. The second varsity eight grabbed the top result of the championships for UW, taking third in the petite final for ninth place overall. The Badgers own 14 team point trophies since it was first awarded in 1952, second behind only Washington's 16 titles. UW last claimed the team points trophy in 2002.
No. 14 Wisconsin competed in the Eastern Sprints two weeks ago and finished in 12th place out of 15 boats after entering the petite finals in all four events they competed in. Following the EARC's Head Coach Chris Clark said he was 'looking forward to just focusing on rowing on great water. We love the challenge.
