MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin women's soccer team held its inaugural match against LSU. The Badgers shutout the Tigers 3-0 under the lights. This win secured head coach Paula Wilkins her 300th career win.
How it Happened
First Half
Aryssa Mahrt scored her first of the season in the 14' minute to give the Badgers the early lead. The ball bounced off Emma Jaskaniec and then the crossbar to give her an opening on the right side of the goal.
Erin McKinney had one save in the half while the Badgers took four shots on net.
Second Half
The Badgers earned a penalty shot in the 52' minute. Jaskaniec lined up and put the ball in the top left of the net to bring the lead to 2-0.
Jaskaniec did it again in the 78' minute. She battled with the goalkeeper in the front of the net and found an opening on the left to place the ball in the back.
McKinney stayed strong in net, facing a collective nine shots and four saves. This is now her fourth shutout in five games.
With this win, head coach Paula Wilkins has earned 300 career wins. She joins 28 other Division I coaches in this exclusive club and is the winningest coach in program history.
