Box Score

IOWA CITY, Iowa — The Wisconsin women's basketball team (8-9, 1-6 B1G) lost to No. 2 Iowa (18-1, 7-0 B1G), 96-50, on Tuesday, Jan. 16, inside Carver-Hawkeye Arena. Serah Williams dropped her seventh double-double of the season, recording 19 points and 14 boards, but it was not enough to overcome the relentless Hawkeye offense.

Williams logged the first bucket of the game, absorbed the foul and got the AND1. Sania Copeland followed up with a commanding three, giving the Badgers a quick 6-0 lead, quieting the rowdy Carver-Hawkeye Arena crowd. Wisconsin led for the first 4:48, but Iowa came storming back on offense, going on a 7-0 run. Williams rattled in a long-two to shut down the Hawkeye streak, making it a one point game. Despite the fast pace, Iowa was pushing on both ends. Copeland remained patient on offense, waited for the double team to hit Serah Williams, and scored another dagger from three. The teams were neck and neck early on, with Wisconsin only trailing by four, 19-15, after the first ten minutes.

Quarter two got off to a far slower start, and the Iowa offense became a challenge for the Badgers. UW did not drain a field goal until 3:39 remaining in the quarter. Iowa's 15-point scoring run was broken by a layup from Brooke Schramek, who rejoined the starting lineup after a brief hiatus. From there, the Badgers' offense gained momentum, scoring another nine points, with six from Williams to bring her first-half total up to 15. Wisconsin trailed Iowa, 46-30, heading into the half.

Porter emerged from the locker room red hot, notching six of the Badgers' first eight points of the half, including a three-pointer. Williams added a jumper and a second-chance bucket with Natalie Leuzinger delivering a driving layup to follow. Wisconsin was down 76-44 with ten minutes remaining, and struggled to get going in the fourth. Limited offense and a relentless Iowa team shut down the Badgers, and the game ended with a 96-50 score.

Wisconsin shot 31.5% (17-54) from the field range, and 20.0% (4-20) from 3-point range. The Badgers shot 92.3% (12-13) from the free-throw line.

Iowa went 47.5% (29-61) from field-goal range, including 40.5% (15-37)  from behind the arc. The Hawkeyes were 88.5% (22-26)  from the free-throw line. Caitlin Clark led all scorers with 32 points (8-18 FG, 6-14 3FG, 10-10 FT).
