MADISON, Wis. – Senior goaltender Kyle McClellan finds himself among those nominated for the 2024 Hobey Baker Memorial Award fan vote.
The Hobey Baker is awarded annually to college hockey's most outstanding player.
McClellan sits among the nation's leaders in all major goaltending statistical categories, ranking second with 18 victories, third with a 1.88 goals-against average, second with a .933 save percentage and leads with six shutouts. His six shutouts rank second on UW's single-season list.Â
His performance has been a part of UW's top national team defense with a 1.86 goals-against per game average and second-ranked penalty kill at 88.2 percent.
The Manchester, Missouri, native's outstanding performance this season has earned him multiple accolades, including Hockey Commissioners Association's National Goaltender of the Month for December, Kwik Trip Holiday Face-Off Most Outstanding Goaltender and four weekly Big Ten Stars of the Week honors. He was also named to the 32-player initial Mike Richter award watch list, which is given out annually to the nation's top goaltender.
For his career, McClellan ranks second nationally with a .926 save percentage and shares third with 10 career shutouts.Â

The first phase of fan balloting runs now through March 10. Fans can cast their vote once per day during the initial phase.
Phase two of fan balloting begins on March 20 from the list of Top 10 Hobey Baker finalists and concludes March 31. The fans' vote accounts for a full one percent of the total ballot in each phase in selecting this year's award recipient.
The 2024 Hobey Baker Award winner will be announced from a field of three Hobey Hat Trick finalists on April 12, 2024 during the NCAA Men's Frozen Four in St. Paul, Minnesota.
Criteria for the award includes candidates emulating the exceptional character traits exhibited by the award's namesake, Hobey Baker. Candidates must demonstrate strength of character both on and off the ice, contribute to the integrity of his team and display outstanding skills in all phases of the game. Consideration should be given to scholastic achievement and sportsmanship.Â
Cole Caufield is the Badgers' most recent Hobey Baker Award winner, claiming the prize back in 2021 after leading Wisconsin to a Big Ten championship and an NCAA tournament appearance. Blake Geoffrion was UW's first winner in 2010.
