Cassie Hall received WCHA Player of the Month awards for January, the league announced Tuesday.
Hall earned her second monthly honors of the season as she was named the WCHA Rookie of the Month, while O'Brien picked up her first WCHA Forward of the Month award of the season.
In the month of January, O'Brien posted an impressive 17 points on five goals and 12 assists, allowing her to pace all WCHA skaters in both points and assists. The Milton, Massachusetts, native averaged 2.13 points per game, all while tying for the league lead in plus/minus with a +13. O'Brien also dominated the faceoff circle, tallying a WCHA-leading 104 faceoff wins. She earned back-to-back WCHA Forward of the Week awards on Jan. 15 and Jan. 22, thanks to stellar performances against St. Thomas and Minnesota State.
A native of South Lyon, Michigan, Hall tallied 10 points on eight goals and two assists for a successful January. A two-time WCHA Rookie of the Week honoree in January, Hall not only led league rookies in points, but she paced all WCHA skaters in goals as well, averaging a goal per game. She led all freshmen in with two power-play goals, and tied for the lead in game-winning goals among rookies with two.
The second-ranked Badgers return home to LaBahn Arena this weekend to face the No. 10 St. Cloud State Huskies for the second time this season. Puck drop for Saturday's opener is set for 3 p.m., while Sunday's finale will begin at 4 p.m. Both games are sold out but fans can watch the action on Big Ten Plus.
