Senior cures his fifth career Athlete of the Week honor
MADISON, Wis. - Bob Liking was named the Big Ten Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week after leading Wisconsin to a sixth-place finish at Wisconsin Pre-Nationals on Saturday, Oct. 19.
Liking has now been awarded the honor for the second time this season and the fifth time in his career. He was named the Big Ten Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week two weeks ago after leading UW to the team title at the Sean Earl Lakefront Invitational.
This year at Wisconsin Pre-Nationals Liking placed sixth overall and first among Big Ten Competitors—covering the 8K course in 22 minutes, 54.6 seconds. The men's team ran away with 199 points and a sixth-place finish, beating seventh-place Notre Dame by one point.
This marked a personal best for the St. Charles, Illinois native, shattering his time by nearly three seconds.
The graduate student is a three-time Big Ten Champion in cross country and is looking to become the fourth runner in Big Ten history to win four Big Ten individual men's titles in two weeks.
Liking and the Badgers head south for the 2024 Big Ten Cross Country Championships at the Orange and Blue Golf Course in Savoy, Ill on Friday, Nov. 1. The men's team will enter the event ranked at No. 9 by the USTFCCCA, rising one spot after last week's race in Madison.
