MADISON, Wis. – The No. 15 Wisconsin women's swim and dive team took down Minnesota 201-99 on Friday in front of a record crowd of 968 at the Soderholm Aquatic Center.
The Badgers won all 14 events in the pool, highlighted by Hailey Tierney's double in the short-distance freestyle. The Pewaukee native won the 50 Free in 22.05 seconds, while taking the 100 Free at 48.59. Seniors Abby Carlson and Paige McKenna won the long-distance freestyle events as Carlson took the 200 Free at 1:44.70 and McKenna won the 500 in 4:43.33. Finally, Maddie Waggoner won the pool's longest race, taking the 1000 Free at 9:35.48.
Four other Badgers won two of their own events, including freshman Maggie Wanezek who won the 100 backstroke in 50.96 and 200 backstroke in 1:51.75. Hazal Ozkan dominated the breaststroke, winning the 100 in 1:00.28 and 200 in 2:10.02. Mackenzie McConagha followed a similar script in the butterfly, winning the 100 in 52.90 and 200 at 1:56.63.
The relays gapped the field, beating Minnesota by over three seconds in the 200 and 400 Relays. The team of Wanezek, Ozkan, Phoebe Bacon and Tierney won the 200 Medley Relay in 1:35.60, while the 400-free Relay group won its race in 3:14.75.
