ORONO, Maine – Juniors
Caroline Harvey and
Kirsten Simms recorded three points each to help the top-ranked Wisconsin women's hockey team to a 6-1 victory over the Maine Black Bears at the Alfond Arena Saturday.
Simms scored twice for the Badgers (17-1-0), and Harvey recorded three helpers.

Finley McCarthy,
Laila Edwards and
Kelly Gorbatenko all recorded the other four goals in game two of the series against the Black Bears (3-14-1).
The Badgers scored four times in the first period. Simms opened the scoring in the first period as she deked out Maine goaltender Kiia Lahtinen and tucked it into the back of the net on the backhand. Less than a minute later, O'Brien beat Lahtinen under the pads to extend the lead to 2-0. McCarthy scored her third goal of the season and third of the period as
McKayla Zilisch added her second point as a Badger with the secondary assist. Edwards closed out the first-period scoring with a goal of her own with five minutes to play.
Maine scored early in the second period to cut the deficit to 4-1. Wisconsin continued to outshoot the Black Bears with a 20 to 7 margin in the second period.
Wisconsin regained their four-goal lead early in the third period.
Caroline Harvey sent the puck out in front and Gorbatenko tipped it into the back of the net. The Badgers closed out the scoring as Simms recorded her second of the night.
In her first start as a Badger,
Quinn Kuntz stopped 17 of the 18 shots she faced to record a win.

- O'Brien recorded a goal and an assist on Saturday, extending her point streak to six games. She leads the NCAA with 40 points this year and 29 assists.

- Finley McCarthy recorded her first collegiate multi-point game and, with an assist on Friday, has recorded points in two-straight games for the first time in her college career.
