WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – For the third-consecutive season, the 14th-ranked Wisconsin women's swimming and diving team took home a fourth-place finish at the Big Ten Championships. Senior Phoebe Bacon claimed her second conference title of the weekend en route to Swimmer of the Championship honors.

As a team, the Badgers finished with 978 points, with Indiana University winning the meet in 1359 points, followed by Ohio State with 1358.5 points and Michigan with 1207 points.

Two nights after winning the 200 IM championship, Bacon added another title to her accolades by winning the 200 back in 1:50.05. Bacon's win in the 200 back gives her six-career Big Ten individual titles and clinched the Swimmer of the Championship award.

Bacon was one of six Badgers to finish among the top eight on Saturday night. Freshman Maddie Waggoner kept up the momentum for Wisconsin in the 1650 freestyle, earning Big Ten runner up with a personal-best time of 15:57.36. She was accompanied by Paige Mckenna who placed fourth in 15:59.84, Alivia Lindorfer who finished seventh in 16:04.88 and Elle Braun who came in eighth with a time of 16:08.59.

Hazal Ozkan continued her dominance in the breaststroke on Saturday night, swimming a 2:09.16 in the 200 breast to garner a bronze medal in the event. 

Wisconsin ended the night with a fourth-place finish in the 400 free relay. Bacon, Abby Carlson, Hailey Tierney, and Abby Wanezek hit the wall in 3:14.51 to end the conference championships. 

Up next, the Badgers will host a last chance meet on March 3 before heading to the 2024 NCAA Championships in Athens, Ga. March 20-23.

DAY THREE: Dunn, Carlson, and Bacon earn silver on day three of Big Tens

The 14th-ranked Wisconsin women's swimming and diving team completed day three of the Big Ten Championships on Friday night with four Badgers finishing in the top eight, and Callahan Dunn earning the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award.

With one day left of competition, Wisconsin sits in fourth place overall with a score of 624.5, trailing Ohio State (907), Indiana (884) and Michigan (835).

Dunn started the night off by being recognized as Wisconsin's recipient for the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award, which is given to athletes who go above and beyond to display positive sportsmanship. She then earned a silver medal in the 400 individual medley, earning a personal best time of 4:08.90, which is now the second-fastest time in the event in Wisconsin history. 

Phoebe Bacon had another impressive swim on Friday night in the 100 back, after winning the 200 individual medley on Thursday. Bacon hit the wall in 51.14 seconds on Friday to garner a silver medal in the event. 

Abby Carlson continued Wisconsin's silver medal streak with a second-place finish in the 200 freestyle. She hit the wall in 1:43.49, which is now the third-fastest time in program history. 

Hazal Ozkan was also in scoring position for the Badgers Friday, placing fourth in the 100 breast in 1:00.19.

Wisconsin finished the night off with a third-place finish in the 200 freestyle relay. Bacon, Carlson, Hailey Tierney and Abby Wanezek swam the event in 1:28.16, which is fourth all-time for the Badgers.

DAY TWO: Bacon crowned Big Ten Champ in 200 IM

The 14th-ranked Wisconsin women's swimming and diving team completed day two of the Big Ten Championships on Thursday night with five Badgers finishing in the top-eight, including another Big Ten championship from Phoebe Bacon.

Wisconsin sits in fourth place overall with a score of 381.5, trailing Ohio State (444), Michigan (433) and Indiana (426).

The 2023 Big Ten Swimmer of the Year, Bacon garnered her fifth-career individual Big Ten title on Thursday in the 200 IM, hitting the wall in just 1:54.29. Bacon led the heat for the entirety of the race, and was accompanied by senior Callahan Dunn, who placed sixth in the event in 1:57.29. Dunn's time now sits as the seventh-fastest time in program history. 

Continuing the momentum for Wisconsin was junior Abby Carlson, starting the meet off with a fourth-place finish in the 500 free in 4:41.39. Sophomore Blair Stoneburg finished seventh with a time of 4:42.52. 

Freshman Hailey Tierney made her Big Ten Championship debut in the 50 free, finishing in eighth in 22.31. 

Wisconsin ended the night off with a second-place finish in the 400-medley relay in 3:30.25. Bacon, Tierney, Hazal Ozkan and Mackenzie McConagha's time was the second-fastest time in program history.

DAY ONE: Badgers earn Bronze on night one of Big Tens

The 14th-ranked Wisconsin swimming and diving team started the first day of the 2024 Big Ten Championships with two program top-10 times on Wednesday night.

The 200 medley relay consisting of Mackenzie McConaghaHailey TierneyHazal Ozkan and Abby Wanezek hit the wall in and NCAA "B" cut time of 1:36.58, to finish fourth overall. This time ties for eighth place in Wisconsin program history. 

The 800 free relay continued the momentum for the Badgers, earning a third-place finish with an NCAA "A" cut time of 6:58.05. Abby CarlsonPhoebe BaconLily Gardner and Blair Stoneburg swam the third-fastest time in program history to finish off night one.
